It's college wrestling season and here in Minnesota, that means one of the first major events is hosted by Augsburg University in Minneapolis. On Episode 36 of The Guillotine Grapevine, we'll chat with Augsburg head wrestling coach Jim Moulsoff about the team, the tournament and the landscape of Division III wrestling and we'll also get a chance to sneak into a back hallway to talk with new Minnesota State assistant coach Ty Eustice.

Eustice spent the last several years working for J Robinson Camps in Minneapolis. He's back in Mankato where he spent two years as a graduate assistant after completing his collegiate career at the University of Iowa.

Over the summer, Daniel Kerkvliet's name, and his wrestling, rose to prominence with a gold medal at the 2017 UWW Cadet World Championships in Athens, Greece. On Episode 35 of The Guillotine Grapevine, Kerkvliet talks about his start in wrestling, his teammates at both Simley High School and the PINnacle School of Wrestling and the recruiting process.

Episode 33 of the Guillotine Grapevine visits with "Canadian Joe" Joseph Dashou, a new wrestler training with the Minnesota Storm in Greco-Roman.

Dashou, originally from London, Ontario, was living in British Columbia before deciding to make the move to Minnesota to get Greco-Roman training full-time. Despite only wrestling since his 12th grade year in Canada, Dashou has hopes to represent Canada in what some believe has been a forgotten style. The Canadians have a strong women's freestyle program and have seen success in men's freestyle as well. Greco-Roman competitors have been sparse over the past decade.

Dashou explains how he came to live with some current Gopher wrestlers while training with the Storm and what the experience has been like with one of the nation's finest and most respected wrestling clubs.

In the 1970s, Minnesota was the center of Greco-Roman wrestling in the United States. With the Minnesota Wrestling Club continually developing talent with the aid of international coaches, athletes and training partners, the club that become the Minnesota Storm always had an international flare.

While in Tampere, Finland at the 2017 Junior World Wrestling Championships, Jason Bryant talked with 1979 World champion and 1980 Olympic silver medalist Andrzej Supron about his trips to the United States and what it was like for him to come to the U.S. in a time where the foundations of Greco-Roman in the country were being founded.

Supron won seven World and Olympic medals from 1974-1983. His chance of winning a second Olympic medal were dashed in 1984 as the Communist Block boycotted the 1984 Games in retaliation for the U.S.-led boycott of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.

His career has taken him to numerous Olympic Games and World Championships and on Episode 30 of The Guillotine Grapevine, May will explain his journey from Minnesota to Japan to his home now in the Czech Republic.

St. Cloud State captured its second straight NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship last month in Sioux Falls, S.D. On Episode 13 of The Guillotine Grapevine, we'll talk with St. Cloud State head wrestling coach Steve Costanzo about the performance.

St. Cloud State brought seven wrestlers to Sioux Falls and all seven placed, giving the Huskies an eight-point gap over second-place Notre Dame College. Brett Velasquez emerged as the lone individual champion, but the story there is much more than meets the eye. Velasquez had to beat returning Division II champion Tim Prescott in a wrestle-off twice just to earn the starting spot prior to the regional championship.

We'll go weight-by-weight and also talk about the impact of St. Cloud State dropping six sports and limiting roster sizes will have on the wrestling program.

Episode 12 of The Guillotine Grapevine rocks some historic talk as Apple Valley's Mark Hall made history winning his sixth individual state championship to go along with six team championships.

Before we get to Hall, we caught up with St. Michael-Albertville's Mitchell McKee after he won his third championship, stepping on the mat a few weights after his brother Patrick claimed the crown at 106 pounds. Following McKee, we talked with New Prague's Griffin Parriott, who wowed the XCel Energy Center crowd with a 10-second fall in the state championship in AA.

Then we get to Hall, who answered questions from loads of TV stations and newspapers. He talked about the goals he had coming in to beat Destin McCauley's five individual titles and six team titles as well as wrestling with his future college coach Cael Sanderson in attendance.

We also got a few minutes with Sanderson and he gave his impressions about the quality and atmosphere at the Minnesota State Championships.
